ABOUT US
The Greater Lansing Chapter of 100+ Women Who Care is a group of over 100 women who get together 4 times a year for the sole purpose of helping local charities/non-profits serving the Greater Lansing area. Many of these charities' resources are being depleted or greatly stressed due to the growing number of requests for help. Our idea is to bring together 100+ women to help make a difference NOW in our community. We come from all walks of life and different financial means. By coming together as a financially committed group, we are able to impact our community in a much more significant way using this simple concept.
*We meet four times yearly for one hour.
*We present 3 randomly selected local charities/non-profits per meeting. No national charities will be considered.
*We select one of the 3 by majority vote and each member contributes $100 for the charity/non-profit voted on by our members present at the meeting in one fundraising night.
100 Women Who Care was started in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, MI, as a brilliantly simple way to raise money effectively and quickly for local charity/non-profit causes. Her group of 100 women, at their first one-hour meeting, each wrote a check for $100 directly to the charity, raising $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city. Since then, many chapters have formed and continue to form all over the country.
The Greater Lansing 100+ Women Who Care chapter was started in March 2010 with 44 donations and we have grown to a membership of over 200 members making a difference in our community. With our September 2024 meeting donation, we have donated over $1 million dollars to local charities/non-profits! Focal Point showcased Greater Lansing 100 Women Who Care reaching the $1 million dollar mark. Click on the link below to view us in the third segment of Focal Point's September 27th, 2024 broadcast..
